high on the eston hills overlooking e the sprawl of the tees valley lies eston nab. The word Nab is derived from the Saxon word Cnaep, which signifies the summit of a hill.
You've got iron age earthworks backed up by bronze age burial mounds.
The trick is to visit. then you know why it is there. strategic to the whole north east coastline, the romans knew it and built a beacon station there that linked the coastal network to catterick garrison, telecoms experts today know it and have an array of hardwear dotted around the site, continuity of use or what ? heads know it and have their betane pyres there too.
well worth a visit, lots of beer cans and the odd burned out twoc on the trek up there, it sort of represents the lawless attitude of teesside and a continuity with our lawless past.
check it out.
