What lies beneath.... loop holes betray the position of the walled passage along the cliff face to the cave entrance, the long, undulating fissure of the cave itself penetrating the rock beneath the castle's outer ward. Castle's not bad, either, arguably the finest-sited in all Wales. Even the customary front of rain sweeping in from the far western slopes of Y Mynydd Du can not dim such an owerpowering aspect.
