Dun Flashader

Broch

Fieldnotes

Visited: May 12, 2014

Dun Flashader lies about 300 m along the road leading to Kildonan from the edge of Flashader village. There is space to park beside the post box. To visit the broch, just ascend the adjacent mound where the remains of Flashader Broch, though levelled to the foundation course, are somehow strangely impressive. The periphery of the broch is very apparent, and the entire interior of large blocks is on the same level, refreshingly not totally overgrown with vegetation. At one point a row of impressively massive foundation blocks can be seen.
