Moel yr Eglwys

Cairn(s)

Moel yr Eglwys (Cairn(s)) by GLADMAN An archive scan looking across the glacial cirque now occupied by the dammed Llyn Arenig Fawr... was ever a dammed water feature so blessed? Apologies for the extreme heat haze... yeah, in Wales. My assumption is there was presumably once a smaller, natural lake below the cairn? (now there's a surprise). Two other large Bronze Age cairns gracing the area are indicated beyond... a third, Carnedd y Bachgen, is to be found at the summit of Arenig Fach, out of frame to left. Note that Llyn Celyn is a completely artificial reservoir, incidentally (apparently) the theme for Manic Street Preachers 'Ready for Drowning?' Or so I'm informed. Nicky Wire may well disagree.
