Loving these Balearic sites. My next foreign holiday is decided. Is Menorca easy to get around? Did you hire a car? ryaner Posted by ryaner

We hired a car. Menorca is a fairly small island without a lot of traffic. It's 30 miles from the capital, Mahon, on the east coast to the only other main town, Cuitadella, on the west coast. The island's main road runs down the middle, between these towns, with other roads radiating off to the south and north coasts. Most of the sites are near the middle and south of the main road, so somewhere around Son Bou would make a good base for visiting all of the island, bearing in mind that you can't drive along the coast, you always have to go towards the arterial road first. Even so, driving between the farthest tips of the island, which you won't do, shouldn't take more than one hour. baza Posted by baza

We went to Menorca five years ago and would highly recommend it, hire a car and stay somewhere in the middle of the island.
Taula sanctuaries were my favorite.
