It's a great place. Much nicer, IMNSHO, than Lands End itself! Which can be seen, I believe, in the background here.

Last time we were there, a ship had wrecked at the bottom of those cliffs - was it still there?

Love the basin on the stone. Looks like it might have been artificially enhanced (from here). ;-) ryaner Posted by ryaner

Thanks very much everyone!

It is a lovely spot, even on a very claggy day like that was. Definitely with Goff on the "nicer than Land's End" thing (and yes, that is it in the background). The ship is still there, wedged at the base of the cliffs of the neighbouring Maen Castle cliff fort.

Ryaner, I couldn't possibly comment. :o)

It was amazing to see the ship's contents being salvaged... the fog was so thick we could barely see a few feet in front of us, but as we drew closer we saw a winch coming up the cliff and onto the clifftop, over our heads and beyond... Quite eerie to see the waves lapping around the wrecked ship...

The fog was so thick we only found one of the barrows. I think it was the same trip that left us grounded at the airport till the fog lifted to take us over to the Isles of Scilly.

A year later, on a bright, sunny day, it was still there. Less eerie, but somewhat disarming seeing such a massive structure lying on its side...

Apparently the sea around Sennen was swarming with blue jellyfish last week! My mate was there and didn't notice them initially, as they paddled in shallow water!

Apparently it's been a record year for jellyfish, we saw quite a lot on the beach near the mouth of Hayle River in June. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

We were up in Cullen last week, round the harbour wall the sea was full of them. Very pretty to look down on but I wouldn't have wanted to go for a paddle. thelonious Posted by thelonious

They're on the menu in the Chinese that we visit every Thursday. My mate tried them a while ago. He didn't like them, said he felt badly stung afterwards. ryaner Posted by ryaner
