Great stuff, that's what I like best about TMA: you add a site, Rhiannon provides folkore and someone goes and gets us some pictures. Yay. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

It certainly looks like a lovely spot. And the other photo has the sea? (or maybe everywhere has the sea on the IoW). Rhiannon Posted by Rhiannon

Yes, just about! On the other side of the road is a 'view point' looking down over Sandown, Shanklin and the English Channel. A place where old people drive to in their cars on Sundays and sit and read the newspaper oblivious of their glorious surroundings! Love it! A R Cane Posted by A R Cane

Hopefully with a cup of tea from a thermos flask sitting on the dashboard and steaming up the windscreen. I'll get over there one day. I want to see if it matches what's in my imagination. Islands are always a bit unusual. The light in your photos makes the place look rather surreal. Rhiannon Posted by Rhiannon

It feels like a small, manageable, self-contained country! We were over there working in an enamelling factory again in Newport for 9 days and got very lucky with the weather over the weekend. I'd thoroughly recommend it for a prehistoric tour as most things are within minutes of each other, though not many stones it has to be said. A R Cane Posted by A R Cane

Well I totally love enamelled stuff, I've done a bit of it myself. I wish I'd got into doing something large scale. What were you doing? Rhiannon Posted by Rhiannon

Ha! Sorry for the delay. Mrs C has an arts commission for a Macmillan Cancer Unit at Runcorn Hospital. The main piece is a large 5m wide x 2.5m high enamelled illustration divided into 5 separate panels. AJ Wells is the factory where we were working. They do most of the signage for London Underground, but they also work with a lot of artists on art installations, etc. Worth getting in touch with them as they're very helpful and friendly!
