Yeah if they wouldn't lock me up, i'd still be burning and pillaging them, something inside tells me that there's nothing more beautiful than seeing a church and all it stands for burn to the ground, they sure do/would make lovely ruins though, and we all know you can't beat a nice ruin. bladup Posted by bladup

Thanks Mr T.

Paul, I like a nice church, me. Can't stand religion, but I like church buildings. Preferably one with interesting carvings, green men, that sort of thing.

Tis a great photo, nicely taken.

I've heard it said that early christians believed in reincarnation, it wasn't till the council of Nicea, or Synod of Whitby or something like it that they banned such beliefs.
i'm really resisting going further.

See it's not that different, we both love churches, i just like ruined ones though, where the green man carving is laughing and saying "look what i did, i brought this one down, they couldn't control me, it's impossible to control me". Imagine a ruined unroofed church in the moonlight, overgrown and taken back by nature, moss and ivy climbing the decaying walls, green man standing out in the light, shadows making the face come alive. Gargoyles howling into the mist, gravestones at all angles, that's how i like them, as a symbol of something most of us once believed in, but long gone now. That was always the problem with christianity, it wasn't as real or better than beliefs much much older, certain people have always known this, what it was though was slightly better than the violence of it's own age in the late iron age/roman times with all it's wars and sacrifices, that age basically had no faith [like now!!!] in much beyond fighting and power [you know where this is going!], christianity may have had a tiny bit of a calming effect back then, that's how you know it's nearly dead, because the further back you look, the stronger and more useful it seems, therefore it may have had a tiny place back then, it said it was here to stop wars, now it's causes them [and has for a long time], it used to be a victim, it now makes them, this is what the church symbolises to me now - war, death and lies, to be honest it always did, it's now everything it was meant to stop. I never did believe their lies, you know this christianaty is pauls/loki's version not the other fella's - jesus/odin, it very quickly became nothing more than the fighting and power craving it once tried to replace, and postie with the names above the christians bloody well should believe in reincarnation, i'm always surprised jesus doesn't lose an eye somewhere along the line, but that would maybe make it too obvious, hanging up there on the cross/tree would have to do, and that's clearly loki fucking around once he's gone, as christianity is clearly one sick trick, it's something that's meant to be about peace but became about war, and it's meant to be about saving people but is probably responsible for more human deaths beyond natural causes, it really is a bad joke, so i'm clearly with you on hating religion. bladup Posted by bladup

Nice pic, and there is nothing wrong with any of the other pics :-( hate is a horrible thing, what has Aberdeenshire?moray, Scotland as a whole and it's inhabitants done to deserve this rant? drewbhoy Posted by drewbhoy

It's nothing to do with just scotland, it's a rant about christianity in general, and hates the right word about it, war, abuse and lies that's what christianity stands for, and yes i hate these things with a vengeance, it makes me a good person to stand against such evil. bladup Posted by bladup

Thanks Drew, one of many highlights from that day.

Regarding the other, I have no problem at all with Christianity as such, a personal faith is no bad thing (although I don't share it). I do have a problem with organised religion, as that becomes about power more than faith. But medieval churches are lovely buildings, full of architectural and engineering brilliance, as much the pinnacle of the technology of the time as Stonehenge or Tinkinswood were of their time. And no doubt the religions that built Stonehenge, or the larger communal sites were every bit as much about power as present day religions are, albeit not on such a global scale.

Bladup, whilst you obviously feel strongly about the issue, can I remind you of the submission guidelines. This website is a collaboration by many people and
"while we understand that there can be differences of opinion, discussions should always remain calm, rational, reasonable and polite." I'd add 'tolerant' to that list as well.

The rest is at

Thank you.
