Arbor Low

Circle henge

Arbor Low (Circle henge) by Ratty Here is an image of the holed stone which used to lie next to the wall in the field after the farm yard which leads to the henge monument. The stone used to be about half way up the field along the wall on the left. This photo was taken sometime around 1990 I think, the stone is no longer there.
I read somewhere that when the farm, whose land the monument is on, was under a previous owner the stone was deliberately removed and is now allegedly an ornament in someones garden in Bakewell!

Interesting! I see Stubob also mentions this in his fieldnotes - is there any documentation to suggest whether this is a natural or man made hole? goffik Posted by goffik
