Round Barrow(s)

Visited 16.4.12

The only place to park is at the drive to the farm building immediately south of the Barrow.

The Barrow is clearly visible from the road as a grass covered mound.

E.H. state:
‘Two prehistoric round barrows situated on top of a ridge north of St Columb Major. They are associated with other barrows beyond this scheduling. The western barrow measures 22m across and 1.3m high. It is considered to have been smoothed by ploughing. The barrow to the east is approx 20m across and 0.3m high and is again reduced by ploughing’.

Mine's a question really rather than a comment Carl, although I must firstly say well done on a sterling effort logging all what you have whilst in Cornwall. Now the you photograph all you see or are you content with just looking and noting them?

Hi Roy,
Perhaps I can explain as I have been asked this before!
The simple answer is I just go and look, make notes and report back.
I don't have the internet at home so use the one in work before I 'clock on' and at lunch time. There are various 'blocks' on what you can do and things you can access in work so it is not possible to submit photos (if I had them!)
Karen always brings her camera but I rarely bother taking photos as I know I can't put them on the site as stated.
Hopefully one day this will change and then I can bore you all with photos as well as my notes!
Speaking of which, I know I have been posting a lot recently but I hope people are not getting fed up with them?
I only have another 3 days of field notes to go from my trip!
Best wishes,

Cheers Carl. Post away because as far as I'm concerned, the more we get the more we know...but maybe not always understand mind you!
