| From Pastscape, referencing "Long Barrows of The Cotswolds" (1925) by OGS Crawford: Two upright stones known as "Odo and Dodo", now in the grounds of Prescott House, were reported by Mr Passmore to have been removed from Nottingham Hill Camp about1860. One is 7ft high, the other 6ft, and both taper to a rough point. |

Aren't people strange, dragging stones away to put in their posh gardens. Such a weird idea. I couldn't resist looking them up, with those names! But they're not so destroyed perhaps http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-135239-two-monoliths-circa-30-metres-north-of-p - and they come with a crazy story as well (indian concubines?!) there's a couple of photos on the MP. |

Oh, thanks Rhiannon! I went to Nottingham Hill today, perhaps I should have gone on to Prescott House as well. Intersting that this version places their origin as Belas Knap though... [edit: I've unchecked "destroyed"] |
