Great Langdale

Cup Marked Stone

Great Langdale (Cup Marked Stone) by GLADMAN Highlighting the approx position of the rock art. As TE notes, the stone is in the copse of trees fractionally to the left, a wonderful landscape setting in the shadow (for once) of Side Pike. The distant lake is Blea Tarn, the viewpoint Harrison Stickle.

Hi Gladders,
The rock is actually in the trees to the left of the end of your pointer.
Cheers,
TE.

Thanks for the local expertise TE. Nearly there, but couldn't see the stone for the trees, so to speak. Was up on Side Pike a while back and wasn't aware this existed.... I am now, which is what TMA is all about. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

If you follow the obvious wall down to where it meets the trees on their right hand side, as we look at it, then follow the wall down into the woods, then you will see some boulders. It's on one of them. I hope you find it next time you're coming off Side Pike into Great Langdale.
As you say, it is indeed what TMA is all about. I've learnt so much from this site, especailly useful when I visit other areas. As well as enjoying reading about other people's experiences of places.
All the best,
TE.

I used this picture to great effect in finding the cup marked boulder.
Cheers Gladders, and TE.
