Avebury midwinter sunset - Easton Down

Last week I watched the last bits of a cloudy sunset from the Bison Stone, the northernmost stone left in West Kennett Avenue, close the southern entrance to the henge.

I was surprised to see the sun sank just slightly to the left of Easton Down long barrow on the skyline - from the southern entrance of the henge I think it would fall directly behind the barrow if there were no obstructions. Can't recall reading about this, anyone know if there are any thoughts about the long barrow being placed deliberately to mark the midwinter sunset from the henge? Not sure which momument is earlier though!
