The capstone George. Imagine a tripod dolmen, then close the sides by leaning stones against it.


Unless I have misunderstood I can't think of any that do that . They are all underneath and covered by the capstone although they may have followed the erection of the capstone .When they excavated Tirnony a few years ago the thought was that the side stones were in place when the capstone was erected .



Ooh i've no evidence of it, just saying maybe it could account for missing flankers in some cases, ones that wouldn't have sat in pits. I'm totally willing to concede it never happened.
