It's an interesting suggestion , and Mens knows what he is talking about . It ties in with a similar suggestions about Pentre Ifan and other Welsh portal tombs where it has been suggested (by those who are not as qualified as Mens ) that the capstones were lifted straight up from where quarried . There are pits below these capstones but no direct evidence that is where they were sourced from .I should add that Mens doesn't suggest that any of the Cornish capstones were lifted straight from the quarrying site .
Just to add to the Welsh portal tombs this capstone at Garnwynda is almost probably a stone that fell from the rock face behind, you can see the 'squared' nature both on the rock face and the capstone, I see Postman thinks the same as well.

There is also on St.David's Head, two sub megalithc tombs, but the capstone to one had at one time probably been rested on the ledge behind on the rock face, which makes you think that ingenuity in the 'choice' of site was at work. Sub-megaliths were not lazy ways of building, perhaps they had never worked out how to get the third stone up.......
