I love visiting this website, seeing the places you've all been visiting, reading the field notes, folklore, news, seeing your photos and so on.

I also love the discussions on these forums. Have been enjoying them since I first started posting here in 2004, (and reading a year or so before that) when I looked at the site but didn't feel like I knew enough to really contribute. The technology I had back then was basic, scanning in photos and so on and my knowledge and experience even more so. However, I still felt very welcome and not too out of my depth before too long.

As a result I've met a few of you who contribute here on a few occasions, some of you I've never met but have certainly enjoyed conversing with online, I'm regularly genuinely inspired with your stories, your travels, your photos and also your strong ethical stances, even when they differ from my own.

The thing that's so great is the diversity here, the diversity of thought, opinions, theories, approaches, spirituality, scientific theory, age, sex or educational background. How cool is that!

The only thing not cool though is the occasions when for some reason things go so far off track that people feel hurt, attacked, vulnerable, angry or just miserable because of a lack or respect or a perceived lack of respect, in fact it sometimes just gets plain nasty. I don't have any particular individual(s) in mind, I feel like I'm pretty open minded but do wish that common ground could be found, and when it can't that difference can be respected and even celebrated instead of it getting nasty.

So I say to you one and all, shall we try and make a fresh start here?

Love, and even more love to you all from Dorset!
