Thunderous applause for those two posts from this quarter! Though I take issue with calling Silbury a mound. It’s a structure goddamit – not a ‘mound’ or a ‘hill’ but a structure, the biggest in Europe until modern times, right here in our heartland, unique and worthy of our absolute respect. If it hadn’t been called a ‘hill’ since gawd knows when, perhaps it would have received a bit more respect. The again probably not, but change of nomenclature is the first step in a mind-shift. We don’t use the expressions Siamese twins or Mongoloid children, or freaks for the disabled anymore, and with those changes has also come a change in our perception of those conditions.

So every post here and elsewhere, and every complaint and every cry of anguish when we see things damaged, desecrated or disrespected are not empty cries falling on deaf ears – they may be tiny drops of water but together they can become a torrent of change. What we lack is a cohesive plan of action, and a determined, well-organised effort to work together on this.
