Another plea....

Several weeks ago I watched a film on tv, BBC4 I think, about off roading on green lanes, this was in the Peak District, what came out was the inability of either law enforcement or the National Park rangers to ban this destructive practice. Funnily enough you could see the participants of this 'sport' squirming slightly knowing they were in the wrong but bluster about getting high court barristers to fight for their 'right' to continue messing up the green lanes was the defense they gave. Go on Youtube and type Stanage Edge, and you can see these brave fellows hauling their jeeps and Discoveries or whatever over the stony rock strewn path, the verges cut away.

It is incredible that in this day and age, the moral high ground should be taken by such a destructive and anti-social sport without the due legislative power to stop it. Motor-bikes, trail bikes and goodness knows what else were on the whole too shamefaced to meet the eye of the camera; people out walking with children and dogs have to put up with the danger and noise and of course the terrible ruts that eventually appear.

So if anyone lives in or near the Peak District join this organisation please...
