Wonderful stuff. Such majestic animals. I consider myself privileged to have so many living around me, although this year they are conspicuous by their absence. Normally at this time of year there are loads of them, wonder what's happened? A couple of years ago one hopped out on me as I was crossing the Maum Pass in the Comeraghs in the car. It happened in an instant, and when I stopped, thankfully, he had not suffered. I laid him out on the nearby ditch, still warm, consumed by guilt. He able to outrun me in an instant. And me in a destructive metal box.
