I don't think it is , certainly on Daf's behalf .Further down the line who knows , but it may be genuine which is the annoying aspect .


Maybe Daf should ask his mate to take it back to the museum (or Finds Liaison Officer) and clarify precisely where it was found and whether it was actually unearthed (which seems like a really lucky occurrence) or merely "de-earthed". They might be able to be more helpful with the identification that way. Context is all.

As for anyone depriving him of it that is impossible, other than in a couple of very specific circumstances.
