Yes it is in nteresting stone D . What's it's history , as far as you know ?
If it's genuine then ity could be any period .Much of the Orkney engravings are more lightly incised but there are others that are heavier ,as on the stone . The carvings from Skara Brae ,Eday etc are a bit like the motifs . Discovering whether it it was metal or not that did the incising would useful .I would suggest taking it to Julie Gibson at the college in Kirkwall , if she is not already aware of it .
