| My little book of Essex...first published 1909...states that Broomfield was a place of early occupation. Palaeolithic implements have been found there.... ...but it doesn't say what they were or where they are?..or were in 1909.. No mention of the pudding-stone except for..'The tower is of flint and pudding-stone...'
