Or you could sell them on ebaY - and know that their eventual owners would care and cherish them adequately. As happens with carved church pews. Our view on the role of the stones may be guided by the knowledge of grave headstones, commemorating a deceased person or persons. Another view is that they may have been 'lids', similar to the tops put over cist burials. That suspected cupmark is the clue.
