So if a place is shared, then you accept that the enjoyment of other people may impact upon your own enjoyment. The fact that the impact that your particular activity may have is more transient than the leaving of offerings is certainly offset in terms of impact. The presence of people picnicking at a site or taking photographs is, to many, far more intrusive than finding a couple of flowers left at the base of a stone.
