Well if its a hill altar perhaps they did sacrifice, notice its surrounded by danger signs and rifle ranges on the map, but loads of barrows around - must have been nice being wealthy gentry wandering round the countryside on your horse, stopping and ordering the serfs to dig into a barrow for your edification ;)
