Thornborough Petition

It was around August last year that TimeWatch and Friends of Thornborough handed a petition to North Yorkshire County Council requesting that there be no quarrying within a mile of the major monuments of the Thornborough Henges.

Since then we have heard nothing. Those of you across the water will recognise this tendancy of politics to avoid having anything to do with people if it can help it.

Many on this board and many others signed that petition - there was almost 5,000 hand written signatures and the same number online.

Figuring that this would happen, I started an almost identical petition, this time directed specifically at the UK parliament.

I'm now inviting you all to sign this new Thornborough Petition, This petition will only display your name in public, all other details will be kept private.

The petition calls for an end to quarrying within a mile radius of the major monuments at Thornborough; remember, the occupation pits on Ladybridge begin half a mile from the nearest henge and some features have been even further away. We need to preserve them and their setting.
