Yes I'm still on the fence too.

The number one priority is conservation. When would this stone be best conserved. In a good state of preservation re-examination is not a problem.

In order for any hertiage object to be conserved by humans, it has to be perceived as important by a large section of the general public - they have to want to visit it, to provide funds for its ongoing preservation.

Otherwise, placing an object in a museum, in my opinion only protects it for twenty years or so and makes it's future tied with the political and economic fortunes of this country.

Labour are clearly anti heritage, to them it is a luxury that we can't afford.
