The North York Moors is an excellent overview of the NYM it's not a very big book but it's ram-jammed with information. Stanhope White spent his retirement wandering the moors visiting all the standing stones (no mean feat considering the NYM is the biggest heather moor in England).
I reckon I'd pay about a tenner for a decent little guide book and so for £6 you'd be getting a good buy.
Mines got a picture of The Old Wifes Neck on the cover.
As for £56 for Elgee, I've never seen a copy as cheap as that. But I agree it's a lot of cash.
