The 'mound' isn't that pronounced, to be honest. There's certainly a bank on the southern side of a foot or so, but I couldn't make out a definitive equivalent to the north.
I've written to the church people asking about the stones and any information about prior (pun intended!) use of the site. As juamei says, if the Yew predates the church...
