Nothing can protect a site from vandalism except the threat of retribution.
You got that in one Gladman. Make the penalties so harsh that causing damage is the last thing on their minds, in fact it would stop them visiting altogether which is no bad thing. That goes for all the other scumbags that spoil our enjoyment in everyday life as well. The 'soft' and 'educational' approach only works in those that are not completely rotten to the core or mentally unstable...much the same thing I wouldn't wonder!
