Nice old-skool village pub, just off the icknield way and handy if you are visiting White Horse Hill and Waylands.

Unfortunately not sign posted from the road, but if your heading to Wantage from white horse hill, turn left at the big crossroads in the dip, go down the holloway and the pub will be on your right.

Hours: 12ish-2.30pm mon-fri and 7pm start in the evenings. Well behaved dogs would be welcome and there is a nice garden for families and kids.

Food is pub grub, don't expect a la carte, but is well prepared. Ham, Egg & Chips and that sort of thing. It is very reasonably priced.

Beer is excellent and well looked after. Probably the best pint of Morlands in the area and there is always two or three other real ales on the go. The hatchet has won CAMRA awards. Cider is stowford press.

Ample car parking.

The village has plenty of thatch and is a typical download village with a duck pond. Well worth a quick walk around. The village has a shop and a post office (at time of writing...).
