Slough Museum is a registered charity and celebrated its 21st anniversary last year.
In 2007 we attrracted 5,340 visitors, 35,000 people visited our website and 2,370 pupils used the Museum. Not bad with 3 members of staff and a few hard-working volunteers. We receive a modest grant from Slough Borough Council that pays for our accommodation and 1 member of staff. We work bloody hard each year to raise the extra money to pay the wages for 2 extra members of staff, gas, electric, cleaning and 101 other things.
This dedication allows us to look after 10,000s of artefacts for future generations to enjoy, answer information requests from all over the world and give all of our visitors a really good idea of Slough's rich history.
A trip to Slough Museum (open 11.30am - 4pm Wednesday - Saturday) is an excellent experience for all. We are very proud that entry to our Museum is FREE - something that can only be achieved through a massive fund-raising effort each year.

Don't go in here looking for any kind of useful help or answers. I went in to ask about the barrow in Stoke Park ...

"Excuse me mate, do you know anything about the barrow in Stoke Park?"

"no"

"excuse me? it's only up the road ..."

"sorry, no"

it was that quick ... it turns out the barrow is literally about 25m "over the border" in Buckinghamshire, so they weren't interested.

Total crap, disinterested and quite frankly rude staff, dampening interest and enthusiasm. Though if you're interested in brickmaking in Slough in the post-ww2 period, you're in for a treat ...
